Chemical and Physical Changes 2/1

This week in Science we learned about chemical and physical changes, and the difference between the two. We were supposed to be forensic scientists trying to figure out if two imaginary people smuggled drugs to the U.S. from Thailand. We ran tests on four white powders plus the one that was unknown. then we compared the results and figured out which substance matched the unknown. Just letting you know we did not use real drugs for this experiment. We tested how the substances reacted when they were mixed with five drops of vinegar, five drops of water, when they were … Continue reading Chemical and Physical Changes 2/1

The Bubble Gum 1/18

This past week in science we did a very interesting experiment involving chewing bubble gum until all of the flavor was gone and it just tasted plain bad. The question was: Will the mass of bubble gum increase or decrease over time as it is chewed? We were paired up in teams, and we all came up with our hypothesis and why we thought the gum would behave that way.   I was paired with Malia and we thought that the gum was going to decrease in mass. I was the chewer because Malia didn’t feel like doing it, and … Continue reading The Bubble Gum 1/18

Survivor Man on YouTube! 1/11

Yesterday our survivor man project finally got posted on YouTube. There were four groups and each one had their own survivor man and news reporters. I did mine with Harry, Ava, and Ellie. Our news station was called swag news, featuring John McFinster the survivor man that had just come back from Alaska. The news reporters where Bob and Fredrick, and our director was Mr. Knight. All of the groups did different regions and countries based off of where there biome was located. The group that was doing the arctic tundra also set their story in Alaska, but they did … Continue reading Survivor Man on YouTube! 1/11

Middle School Science 12/7

This week in Middle School Science we worked on our scripts for our biome project. I think ours is getting along pretty well. Our survivor man expedition is based in Yukon Koyukuk, Alaska which is a huge coniferous forest. Our survivor man is named John McFinster and that is the character that I am going to play when we film it. There are going to be two news reporters named Bob and Fredrick, (played by other people in my group) and one of my other classmates is going to direct. We watered the hoop house this week, and I hope … Continue reading Middle School Science 12/7
