This week we finished up on our digestive system projects and began the urinary system. We are making a model of the urinary system using different types of candy, such as licorice for the veins and arteries, and gumdrops, kidney beans, and marshmallows to fill in the bladder and kidneys. We learned about all the different functions of the kidney and how important they are in the body. Each day the kidneys filter about 750 to 1000 pints of blood.
